History - The Douglas Era : 1906-1937

The Douglas Family In 1906, George Bruce Douglas and Caroline Sinclair negotiated a house trade. George, his wife Irene, and daughters Margaret and Ellen moved to Brucemore and made it a lively home with all the benefits of country living. They tripled the property size and added a carriage house, guesthouse, servants' duplex, greenhouse, bookbindery/squash court, and playhouse. It became a wonderland for the Douglas children.
