History - Leo, the Hall's Pet Lion

Howard and Leo Perhaps the most famous Brucemore resident was Howard and Margaret Hall's pet lion, Leo. Between 1936 and 1953, the Halls owned three different lions, one after another. All were named "Leo," but the first and third lions lived at Brucemore for less than a year. Leo II lived for thirteen years and is buried in the pet cemetery. Brucemore's home movie footage and photographs of lions are of Leo II.
