Get crafty this holiday season!
Art at Brucemore workshops are offered in partnership with the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio. Join us this holiday season to craft three glass creations that you can use to add holiday cheer to your home.
Glass Holiday Wreath Ornament – November 17 – 12:30 PM & 2:30 PM
Brucemore is partnering with the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio for another popular workshop, just in time to kick off the holiday season! In this workshop, you will design a beautiful wreath ornament made of glass. All materials and instructions are provided, and no experience is necessary to participate.
Participants will craft and set their ornaments at Brucemore. All projects will go back to the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio for firing in their kilns. Your creation will be ready for pick-up from the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio approximately three weeks following the workshop date, just in time to hang your masterpiece on your tree!
Ticket sales close on November 13 at 5:00 PM, but this workshop often sells out in advance.
$40 for one ornament; $55 for two ornaments
Note: All participants must purchase their own admission. The two ornament option is for one participant to create two projects.
Glass Cookie Plate – December 1 – 12:30 PM & 2:30 PM
Brucemore is partnering with the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio for a dough-licious addition to the Art at Brucemore series! In this workshop, participants will design a plate perfect for sharing cookies with all your favorite people this holiday season, including Santa. All workshop materials and instructions for the warm glass technique are provided, and no experience is necessary to participate!
Participants will craft their cookie plates at Brucemore. All projects will go back to the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio for firing in their kilns. Your creation will be ready for pick-up from the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio approximately three weeks following the class date, just in time to indulge in all your favorite holiday desserts!

Double Glass Holiday Trees – December 8 – 12:30 PM & 2:30 PM
Brucemore is partnering with the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio to bring this popular workshop back to the Art at Brucemore series – but this year it’s double the trees, so double the fun!
You will design a beautiful double glass tree decoration using warm glass techniques. Both trees will share a single stand, so you can create a forest of sparkling trees to brighten your home for the holidays. All materials and instructions are provided, and no experience is necessary to participate. Projects include a wooden display stand.
After creating your tree at Brucemore, all projects are then taken back to the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio for firing in their kiln. Your creation will be ready for pick-up from the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio approximately three weeks following the class date, just in time to decorate for the holidays!

What to know before you go
- Capacity is limited and workshops often sell out. Advance registration is required.
- Recommended for children ages 8 up, and must be comfortable working with glass pieces. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
- Workshops last approximately 60 minutes.

What to do when you arrive
- Please enter the property through the gate at 2160 Linden Dr. SE., Cedar Rapids, IA 52405.
- Once on-site, please follow signs towards the Carriage House, where there is parking on several sides of the building.
- The Carriage House entrance is on the northwest side of the building.
- Please check-in with Brucemore staff.
Tips for your visit
- Please consider leaving bags or other larger personal items in your vehicle. A coat rack is available, but it is not monitored during the workshop.
- All ticket sales are final. Please read our ticket policy here.
- Before or after your workshop, put on your hat and gloves and explore Brucemore’s ground during your visit! The estate includes a formal garden, a white garden, orchard, pet cemetery, and more that are especially beautiful after a snowfall.
- Purchase a ticket for a tour before or after your workshop for even more Brucemore fun! Self-guided tours are available from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and 5:00 to 7:30 PM on Sundays. Entry times occur every 30 minutes with the last one at 3:00 PM for the daytime and 7:30 PM for the evening.
